A new JCAN program focused on connection, community, and aging well together.
Over the years, I’ve seen something that doesn’t get talked about enough.
Many women in the Black community, especially as we get older, can end up feeling lonely, disconnected, and isolated, even when we’re surrounded by people. Sometimes it happens quietly… after retirement, after kids grow up, after a loss, after a move, or simply as life changes. And the truth is: loneliness doesn’t just affect our mood. It affects our health, our confidence, our sense of purpose, and our ability to feel grounded.
That’s why I’m proud to share that JCAN will be launching our inaugural program this spring:

Sisters Connect GTA
Coming soon — Spring 2026 Follow us at @SistersConnectGTA
Sisters Connect is being created as an upstream approach to supporting women as we age, with a focus on tackling the loneliness and isolation that too many people in our community face in later years.
What Sisters Connect is really about
Sisters Connect isn’t about perfection. It’s not about “having it all together.”
It’s about building a space where women can show up as they are.
A space for:
real conversation
laughter and lightness
encouragement and support
new friendships
and the kind of community that reminds you you’re not alone
It’s about helping women stay connected , not just socially, but emotionally and spiritually too.
Why JCAN is doing this
At JCAN, we’ve always believed that health isn’t only what happens in a clinic.
Health is also:
having someone check in on you
having a place where you feel you belong
having community around you during life transitions
and feeling like you still matter, at every age
Sisters Connect is one more way we’re putting that belief into action.
More details coming soon
We’re finalizing the program details now and can’t wait to share:
the first gathering date
location information
registration steps
and what to expect during each session
If this sounds like something you’ve been needing , for yourself, your mother, your auntie, your neighbour, or a friend, please stay tuned and spread the word.
